We love our community at Stookit. You’ve trusted us with a big responsibility, and we’re committed to upholding a high standard when it comes to our privacy practices. It’s important to us that you’re comfortable on Stookit, so we provide options for you to control how much information you share and your communication preferences. We believe in being transparent about our practices, which is why we provide a detailed Privacy Policy to explain how we gather, use and protect your information. We’ve pulled out the highlights here, in an effort to better communicate the key points.

By visiting Stookit’s website or using Stookit’s mobile applications, you are accepting the terms of this Privacy Policy. Any external links to other websites are clearly identifiable as such, and we are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of these other websites.

Information Collected or Received
Stookit will not disclose your name, email address or other personal information to third parties without your explicit consent, except as specified in this policy.

As an Stookit member you are required to provide a valid email address at registration and choose a username or alias that may represent your identity on Stookit.

Depending on which services you choose to use, Stookit may require additional information, billing and payment information (including billing address, telephone number, credit card information), a telephone number, and/or a physical postal address. As a shop owner if you choose to enable the direct checkout service (“Direct Checkout”), Stookit may require information such as your social security number, identification ID or tax ID, date of birth, bank account information, credit card information and/or other proof of identification in order to verify your identity and provide this service to you. Credit card information on an account may be stored and used for both billing and payment purposes. Stookit may contact individual shop owners to confidentially request more information about their shops or items listed on the Site, to ensure compliance with our rules. Certain products or services on Stookit may require you to complete an application; any information you submit through the application processes will not be displayed publicly and will only be used internally by Stookit, unless otherwise specified.

You may optionally choose to provide your full name and other personal information (such as birthday, gender, location) to be publicly displayed in connection with your account and activity.

Your username, Stookit ID or alias is publicly displayed and connected to your Stookit activity. Other people may see your date joined, reviews, ratings, profile information, items listed for sale, shop pages, sold item listings, and comments in community spaces.

Stookit automatically receives and records some information from your browser or your mobile device when you visit the Site or use the Apps, such as your IP address or unique device identifier, cookies and data about which pages you visit on the Site or on the Apps. This information helps us analyze and understand how the Site and the Apps work for members and visitors, and provide a more personalized experience for members and visitors. Some members or visitors may connect to or register an Stookit account using an external third-party application, such as an app developed using the Stookit API. Stookit may receive some data from those connected third-party applications. Connecting your Stookit account to third-party applications or services is optional, and when you connect your account to an external app, you will be given the opportunity to grant permission. You can revoke your permission under your Stookit account settings.

Stookit may receive or collect information (for example: an email address) about a person who is not yet a registered Stookit member (a “non-member”) in connection with certain Stookit features, including but not limited to: a member inviting a non-member to visit the Site, a non-member engaging in a transaction, or a member sending a gift card code to a non-member. Non- member information is used only for the purpose it was originally submitted to Stookit. A non-member can contact Stookit Support if they do not want Stookit to retain their information.

Stookit uses the information described in this policy to provide and improve our services and products, for billing and payments, for identification and authentication, for targeted online marketing, to contact members or interested parties, and for general research and aggregate reporting.

Stookit’s Terms of Use require all account owners to be at least 18 years of age (or have the permission and supervision of a responsible parent or legal guardian), therefore, this policy does not discuss use of our Site, our Apps, or services by minors.

Uses and Sharing
We use the information that we gather from our users in a number of ways, including to provide and improve our services, for targeted online marketing, and to communicate with you. We also partner with service providers and other third parties that collect, use, and analyze information about Stookit users.

Stookit will not sell or disclose your personal information to third parties without your explicit consent, except as specified in our Privacy Policy.

Choices
You may review and change your information in your account settings, and you may remove certain optional pieces of information.

You may opt-out of receiving certain types of communications from Stookit in your account settings. And although Stookit does not currently respond to “do not track” browser headers, you may control online behavioral ads by opting out through this link: http://www.aboutads.info/choices/.You also may limit certain tracking by disabling cookies in your web browser.

Messages from Stookit
On occasion, Stookit will contact you. Primarily, messages are delivered by email or by push notifications, and every account is required to keep a valid email address on file to receive messages. In some situations, Stookit may contact you by telephone, SMS message or physical mail in order to provide you with customer support or to provide you with information about products and features you my find of interest. You may update your contact preferences in your account settings.

Some messages from Stookit are service-related and required for members. Examples of service-related messages include, but are not limited to: a welcome/confirmation email when you register your account, notification of an order, or correspondence with Stookit’s support team. These messages are not promotional in nature. You may not opt-out of receiving service-related messages from Stookit, unless you close your account.

As a member, Stookit may also send you messages related to certain features or your activity on the Site. Stookit may also send you news or updates about changes to our Site, Apps, or services.

A contact-importer feature is available to help you locate and connect with your friends and contacts who may be members of Stookit (see Findability). If someone in your contact list is not already a member, you may invite them to join Stookit. Recipients of email invitations may opt out of receiving future invitations by following instructions in the email invitation message.

Community
Stookit is both a marketplace and a community. We offer several features that allow members to connect and communicate. Please use common sense and good judgment when posting in these community spaces or sharing your personal information with others on Stookit. Be aware that any personal information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by others, or could be used to send you unsolicited messages.

Another Stookit member may follow your public activity on Stookit to receive updates, for example: when you create a profile. After a member has begun following your activity, you have the option to “unfollow” that member through the Site if you do not wish to share your updates with that specific person.

Information Sharing & Disclosure
We want to respect your privacy. Stookit will not disclose your name, email address or other personal information to third parties without your explicit consent, except as specified in this policy.

Stookit limits access to your personal information to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs.

As part of the buying and selling proces, Stookit will facilitate the sharing of information between the two members involved in the transaction through PayPal. As part of the buying or selling process, you may obtain another Stookit member’s email address, shipping address, payment information, and/or other information. As described in Stookit’s Terms of Use, you have a limited license to use this information only for Stookit- related communications or for Stookit-facilitated transactions. Stookit has not granted you a license to use the information for unsolicited commercial messages. Without express consent from that person, you must not add any Stookit member to your email or physical mailing list.

Stookit may release your personal information to a third-party in order to protect, establish, or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; comply with a subpoena, court order, legal process, or other legal requirement; or when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to comply with the law, prevent imminent physical harm or financial loss, or investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, threats to our property, or violations of Stookit’s Terms of Use. We may disclose personally identifiable information to parties in compliance with our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy, as we in our sole discretion believe necessary or appropriate in connection with an investigation of fraud, intellectual property infringement, piracy, or other unlawful activity. In such events, Stookit may disclose a name, address, country, phone number, email address and company name.

In some cases, Stookit may choose to buy or sell assets. In these types of transactions (such as a sale, merger, liquidation, receivership or transfer of all or substantially all of Stookit’s assets), member information is typically one of the business assets that is transferred. In the event that Stookit transfers information about you, Stookit will notify you by email or by putting a prominent notice on the Site and the App, and you will be afforded an opportunity to opt-out before information about you becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Third-party plug-ins also may collect information about your use of the Site. For example, when you a load a page on Stookit that has a social plug-in from a third-party site or service, such as a Like or Send button, you are also loading content from that third-party site. That site may request cookies directly from your browser. These interactions are subject to the privacy policy of the third-party site. In addition, certain cookies and other tracking mechanisms on our site are used by third parties for targeted online marketing and other purposes. These technologies allow a partner to recognize your computer or mobile device each time you visit Stookit, but do not allow access to personally identifiable information from Stookit. If you prefer to prevent third parties from setting and accessing cookies on your computer, you may set your browser to block cookies. And you may opt out of the use of cookies by Google Analytics here. Although our website currently does not respond to “do not track” browser headers, you can limit tracking by taking these steps.

We can only speak for ourselves; this policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that Stookit does not own or control, or individuals that Stookit does not employ or manage. If you provide your information to others on Stookit or throughout the Internet, different rules may apply to the use or disclosure of the information you provide to them. Stookit does not control the privacy policies of third parties, and you are subject to the privacy policies of those third parties where applicable. Stookit is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of other websites on the Internet, even those linked to or from the Stookit Site or Apps. We encourage you to ask questions before you disclose your personal information to others.

Security
The security of your personal information is important to us. Your Stookit account information is protected by a password. It is important that you protect against unauthorized access of your account and information by choosing your password carefully, and keeping your password and computer secure by signing out after using our services.

Stookit encrypts sensitive information (such as credit card number) using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Stookit follows generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once Stookit receives it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Stookit offers optional advanced security settings for members, such as two-factor authentication for signing in, full-site SSL, and login history; you can enable these options under your account settings.

Data Retention
Stookit will retain your information only for as long as is necessary or your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you no longer want Stookit to use your information to provide you services, you may close your account. Stookit will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

You may inform us of any changes or requests in regards to your personal data, and in accordance with our obligations under local data protection law, we may update or delete your personal data accordingly.

Privacy Policy Changes
Stookit reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it periodically. We’ll communicate changes by posting a notice on the Site or the Apps. If we make material changes to this policy, prior to the change becoming effective, you will be notified here, by email, in the version notes on the Apps’ platform, or other places Stookit deems appropriate.
